Be Gentle with Yourself

Be Gentle with Yourself

Are you someone who takes care of everyone else – except yourself? I see this a lot in clients and, while it sounds noble and ideal in theory, it’s not so great in practice.

I don’t mean to sound self-centered, but I’ve always thought that if I don’t take good care of myself I’m not going to be in a position to help anyone else. So for me that means:

  • Eating healthy

  • Exercising regularly

  • Getting enough sleep

  • Spending time with family & friends

  • Taking a short nap when possible

  • Working on my personal relationship with God

  • Enjoying some alone and down time

  • Regularly doing things that are FUN!

It’s definitely ok to take care of loved ones – but you should love yourself first. Don’t take the scraps of your time and energy – you deserve better than that! Give yourself the go-ahead to do things that support you. And if that’s difficult to do take it from me – I hereby give you permission to nurture yourself!
